You are aware of free open source options such as OpenToonz and Krita? OpenToonz is used in Japanese animation studios, and quite powerful animation software. Might as well make the best of what I've got in the meantime. If so, do you have any tips for a rank beginner (read: me and maybe others who stumble across this topic by chance)? I'm kind of stuck with this software for the time being, since there's no way I can afford one of those subscription licenses for programs like TVPaint currently.
